Chester Section visited St Winifred’s Shrine in Holywell – this Shrine featured on the recent Pilgrimage: The Road Through North Wales. This BBC Programme followed seven well-known personalities of differing faiths and beliefs, tackling a modern-day pilgrimage along the North Wales Pilgrim’s Way. Pilgrims have been coming to Holywell since the 12th century and at their Autumn Plenary 2023 the Bishops Conference of England and Wales, elevated the Shrine of St Winefride to national Shrine status.
