23rd July 2023 is the 3rd World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, established by Pope Francis and is promoted by the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life. This celebration was born from the necessity to give importance to the role that the grandparents and the elderly have in our life and in our communities. 

The theme of this year will be “His mercy is from age to age” (Lk 1:50) which invites us to remember that the mercy of God manifests itself in history through the testimonies handed down from generation to generation, from grandparents to grandchildren.
