Pact Prisoners’ Sunday
On Prisoners’ Sunday the Catholic Church encourages everyone to reflect on and pray for prisoners and their families. This year, Prisoners’ Sunday takes place on 8th October.
These are the kinds of things CWL members can do to help
- Ask your parish priest to put Prisoners’ Sunday in the parish diary.
- Offer a Pact speaker for Mass. We can provide a simple script for CWL members to speak from. Or we may be able to arrange for a Pact staff member to come. You can attend an optional online Speaker Preparation Session on 28th Sept at 6pm.
- Respectfully ask about a second collection for Pact. The date clashes with Cafod’s Family Fast Day – some parishes smoothly choose a nearby date for their Pact second collection.
- Remind the priest to look out for the Pact Prisoners’ Sunday pack arriving in the post mid-September.
- Put up the poster from the pack.
- Use the bidding prayers from the pack on the day
- Organise a fundraising event around Prisoners’ Sunday for Pact. Ideas here: Event guidance | Prison Advice and Care Trust
- Follow @PactFaithAction on Fb and Twitter and share our social media posts
- Let Theresa and Marie know what is happening where you are, and for any queries: parish.action@prisonadvice.org.uk
