Saturday 10th June was a day packed with interesting speakers and meeting old and new friends. It was the official launch of the new website and everyone heard about the Special Audience with Pope Francis and CWL’s participation in the WUCWO General Assembly in Assisi in May.
The afternoon saw a very entertaining account of a member’s time spent volunteering at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and was followed by excellent and informative talks from the Prison Advisory Care Trust and how CWL members are supporting their work. Tricia Bradbury, Quaker Chaplain at HMP Birmingham, gave us a moving insight into her work.
The final event before Mass was the Open Forum which gave rise to some fascinating discussion and suggestions from these experts about what they would like to see happen in the future to improve the lives of prisoners and their families.
